The beginning of Les Délices du Petit Bois
The food industrie? I got into it when I was young!
When you take a bite of a delicately prepared dish, do you have any idea how many people and their successive actions from its conception made it possible to bring you those few minutes of pleasure?
It's through a lot of hard work, patience, and perseverance that a multitude of people work behind the scenes with love to supply the daily food needs of humanity.
As a farmer, market gardener and winegrower, my father shared his passion with me very early on, in the 1960's. His uncle ran a village grocery store, and I loved lingering in the shop where the scent of freshly roasted coffee mixed with the smell of raw hams and sausages hanging from the ceiling.
Sure enough, when I grow up, I will sell these products!
Later in the 1980's, I had the opportunity to join my father-in-law in his food brokerage business, mainly dealing with fresh fruits and vegetables, potatoes and some frozen products. Our clients back then were mostly wholesalers located in the National Interest Markets.
In 1995, I decided to create a food distribution company. Les Délices du Petit Bois was born. For those wondering about the origin of the name, we started our business in a garage on the ground floor of our offices located at 218, Chemin du Petit Bois, in a lovely neighborhood of Toulon.
Retirement homes, which are very numerous in the Var department, were our first clients. Initially, our offer was limited to a range of individual biscuits and cakes, but it quickly evolved to include grocery ingredients needed for preparing meals in collective catering.
Over the years, our delighted clients urged us to expand our offer to include temperature-controlled products. So, in the second half of 2006, we ventured into the distribution of fresh and frozen products.
Gradually, our warehouses no longer met our logistical and storage needs, so in 2014, we decided to move to our current premises at 191 Avenue de Digne, in La Garde.
This opportunity allowed us to launch new ranges such as fresh meat to expand our services to commercial catering.
Our young, dynamic team is buzzing with ideas for new projects, but if I reveal them, I'll be off-topic as it would no longer be part of the history...
